Jr. Blues Enter Break Following Big Win over Topeka

Connor Girard and the Springfield Jr. Blues entered Saturday night's contest against the RoadRunners of Topeka with one thing on there mind; JUST WIN. Well, following the Jr. Blues' 4-to-1 win Saturday, they most certainly need to maintain the level of play that the brought on the ice that night.

Springfield, who entered the game having lost four of there previous five games, brought intensity from start to finish, and it was a game that they owned the RoadRunners basically the entire time on the ice.

Girard made 21 saves in the win as he earned his first-ever North American Hockey League shuout of his career, He improved his record to 4-6-0 on the season with a 3.42 goals-against average.

Nick Hudeck notched a goal and an assist for Springfield, while Tyler Rehm, Kevin Walters and Mike Williams each scored a goal apiece. Cody Kohn also added in two assists for the Blues, who at 9-13-1 overall on the season, moved into a third place tie with the Coulee Region Chill, who are 8-11-3 overall.

Topeka, who won the opener on Friday night, got 21 saves from starting team goalie Peter Traber. The RoadRunners moved to 14-8-2 overall on the season and are currently in second place in there division.

Springfield will enter holliday break with an overall tie for third place in the division. The team will be off from this following Sunday until the first Friday of December on the second. The team will host St. Louis at the Nelson Center on that Friday night and will be then going to play host to the Spirit of St. Louis the following night for a home-and-home series.
