Game Recap: Jr. Blues battle back, defeat Bandits 4-1

The Springfield Junior Blues were shutout by Spencer Viele and his Saint Louis Bandits at the Nelson Center on Friday night. Less than twenty-four hours and a one-hundred mile drive to Chesterfield, Missouri, later, the Jr. Blues responded back and defeated the Bandits 4-to-1 at the Hardees Center on Saturday night.

Springfield got there four goals from the likes of Ethan Nauman, and Kyle Cook in the first period, and from Kevin Walters and Mike Williams in the third period. Kevin Walters added in an assist to go along with the goal and had two points on the night.

The Bandits got there lone goal from Frank Diciara, which was a first-period power-play goal. TJ Sherman added in the assist for St. Louis' only goal.

Tyler Parks was behind the net for the Jr. Blues on Saturday night, and he blocked nineteen of twenty shots taken at him. He played all sixty minutes for the game. As for Viele, who converted a shutout just the night before at the Nelson Center, he allowed four goals on twenty-eight shots attempted against him.

Springfield outshot the Bandits 28-to-20 on the night and split the weekend series between the two teams. All of the likes of Ben Kramer, Kevin Walters, Josef Pontasch, and Gavin Tufte (2) each added in assists during the win as well.

Following the win, the Jr. Blues improved to 10-14-1 overall, which is good enough for 21 points and a fourth place standings spot. As for the Bandits, they stayed in first following another Janesville loss on Saturday night with 39 points and a record of 19-6-1.

The Junior Blues will take the week off before taking on the MidWest division's last place team, the Chicago Hitmen, for a three game home stand starting next Friday through Sunday.
